Images of CGC-graded Comic Books Now Available Using the CGC Certification Verification Tool (2024)

Picture this: Now all comics and magazines certified by CGC are being imaged after encapsulation, and collectors can download the images for free!

Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®), the world leader in comic bookauthentication and grading, is expanding its services to include imaging for allcomics and magazines after encapsulation. The images will be displayed in theCGCCertification Verificationtool, providing collectors, dealers and enthusiasts with high-qualitydigital images of CGC-certified collectibles. As an added benefit, these imagescan be downloaded for free to display in the CGC Comics Registry, on onlinesales platforms and more!

Imaging all comics and magazines after encapsulation and making them availableonline is the latest way that CGC is adding value, safety and transparency tothe pop culture collectibles market. Now, when collectors enter a collectible’sCGC certification number to confirm its description and grade in the CGCdatabase, they will also be able to reference an image of the collectible. Thiswill help collectors verify that their CGC holder is genuine and has not beentampered with.

The new imaging service is a complimentary benefit of CGC Comics grading,provided at no extra charge to submitters. And because CGC is the world leaderin comic book grading, millions of comics will be imaged, with the imagesavailable to the public. Collectors can simply right-click on the images todownload and save them for use on eBay, the CGC Comics Registry and otherplatforms.

Certification verification, and the images now available, can also be used as auseful starting point to research a CGC-certified collectible. This isparticularly helpful for those buying and selling collectibles. In addition, byproviding digital images, CGC ensures that collectors have a reliable record oftheir collection’s condition and appearance.

Is CGC comic grading worth it? ›

You would need to get a 9.8 from CGC on most newer books to make them worth your time and money. There are exceptions to this rule (see our next tip). If the book is from the 1960s, then there's a much higher chance that it'll be worth grading, depending on the grade and significance of the issue.
