What'sgoing on at the Bookstore?

This month we are featuring "tiny books" priced at 3 for $1.00. We have a varied assortment on a wide range of topics available. These smaller books are quick easy reads and make great gifts.

In May we will be featuring Classic Literatureand Antiquarian Fiction. Normally these books are only available at the Folsom Renaissance faire in September. Come to the bookstore for this great opportunity to expand your homelibrary. Most books will be regularly priced at $2, and there will be a few collectibles available which are individually priced.

Books, Movies, and Music!

The Bookstoreis packed with thousands of Books, DVDs, CDs, and audio books. We frequentlyrotate the stock, so stop by often to browse. (Photo: Bill Cobb).

Every worker is a volunteer and all items that we sell are from donations. It is the money the Friends raise that enables the Folsom Library to provide such a wonderful array of free programs and services for people of all ages in our local community.

The money we raise at our semi-annual book sales helps provide the free programming the library offers the community. In the past, we've paid for new computers for adult and children's areas (free to users); the Summer Reading Program, which keeps kids reading while school is out; furniture for the Teen Room and the Large-Print Reading Area; author visits; First Friday presentations; homework assistance; ESL classes and materials; the library's self-checkout and security systems and much, much more.

You can help us even more by joining the Friends (as a member you'll get free book sale admission on preview Fridays) plus discounts on all purchases at the sale and in the Book Store. Join under the FAQ/Join tab on this website.

Support the library with a leaf on our Giving Tree

Friends of the Folsom Library (2)

Our Giving Tree is growing, and if we do say so ourselves, it is gorgeous. We envision the day the leaves will spread around the full wall ... and maybe walls! Board member Bill Cobb is shown placing another leaf on the tree. We engrave the leaves with the names of donors, loved ones, etc.. for a contribution of at least $300. Higher levels of giving are recognized with embellshments. (The tree was painted by artist Lesley Kemp).

The tree is made of wood and was beautifully sculpted and painted for us by Mike Jimena, co-owner with his wife, Connie Mockenhaupt, of Mikon Productions. You may recognize them as director/producers and often actors at the Sutter Street Theater. Each leaf washand cut so no two exactly match. Executive Engravers on Natoma Street is etching the names.
